An employee’s job is to give his or her best work every day. A manager’s job is to give the employee a good reason to come back to work tomorrow.” – Liz Ryan

A few months ago, we were extremely proud to announce that we had been awarded our first 'Investors In People' accreditation. This award is recognised globally and focuses on making the working life better for employees within your company. There is a heavy focus on wellbeing and development, but the main purpose is to ensure consistent employee happiness and satisfaction on a daily basis.

At M.A.J, our employees are always at the forefront of everything we do, and we invest heavily (financially and mentally) to ensure they enjoy coming to work every single day. All of our paralegals are given the opportunity to obtain a training contract after successful completion of their LPC/SQE which we part fund, we hold various events throughout the year such as the annual M.A.J bake off, Easter Egg hunts, Charity events and not forgetting our team weekends away. We also place an emphasis on mental health as a priority and have a great understanding of our employee commitments out of work (family, hobbies etc.) Where we can, we will always accommodate our employees and adjust schedules accordingly.

Last month, we were lucky enough to be invited to our first Investors In People community celebration event. The event was held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester and was a fantastic day for all involved. With over 100 business leaders and HR experts under one roof, it was inspiring and motivating to know that each and every individual/ business in attendance had gone through their own journey to receive their accreditation - be it Standard, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

The day consisted of a meet and greet upon arrival with complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments, where we could network with other business and get an insight into how others focused on making happiness a priority in the workplace. We also had an opportunity to meet with our IIP practitioner Mel, who awarded us with our accreditation. Shortly after, we were invited to take our seats where we were introduced to Paul Devoy (CEO) and Eddie Salmon (Investors in People Practitioner Manager) who both gave an inspirational welcome speech before we heard from three guest speakers, who were equally as inspiring - telling the story of their journey to receiving their accreditation, and what they truly believe makes work better. As the speeches drew to a close,  all awards were presented, and each individual/business was given a photo opportunity to display on their website/social media pages before we said our goodbyes. It was a truly fantastic day.

In the meantime, we will continue to maintain our standards and invest in our staff development and well-being, and we look forward to attending the events throughout the rest of this year and in the future. . We are really looking forward to working with Investors In People and seeking new ways to #makeworkbetter
