Get It Off Your Chest - Charity Bench Press 2024
By MAJ Law on 22 January 2024
On Saturday 20th January, M.A.J attended the 'Get If off Your Chest' charity bench press event. The event was held at 'Northern Strength' gym in Warrington in aid of men's mental health and fitness. In total £1500 was raised. All proceeds went towards the Warrington Wolves Foundation support groups - OFFLOAD and Extra Time.
OFFLOAD is a men's mental fitness and wellbeing project delivering in communities across the North, in partnership with Rugby League Cares. The project is aimed at adult men who have low to moderate mental health and struggling with the pressures of life (no formal medical diagnosis required). It is a set of 10 mental health workshops using the lived experiences of professional athletes, designed to raise awareness & tackle the stigma of mental health/illness. Offload saves lives; it increases confidence & self esteem, creates better coping mechanisms and participants develop crucial life-changing social connections.
One of our motoring law specialists, Jacob, is a member of Northern Strength where the event was taking place. Although he wasn't competing this time, he played a crucial part in the day, supporting and spotting to ensure the safety of all the competitors. Jacob informed us of the event last year and our director Conor Johnstone kindly offered to donate the prize money and become an official sponsor. Mental health is something that we place with very high importance in our firm. Due to the nature of the law in which we practice, many of our clients have suffered or are suffering with mental health difficulties. All of our solicitors and motoring law specialists are trained to deliver a professional service, whilst also having empathy and the ability to listen attentively to their clients.
We are thrilled to know that the event generated £1500 to donate to the support groups. Thank you to Northern Strength for hosting an event for such a good cause, it really was a fantastic day and the encouragement from competitors, staff and spectators was overwhelming. We would also like to say thank you to the Warrington Wolves Foundation for offering continuous support when people need it most. We look forward to attending next year!
